Description
‘Miss Molly’ has some of the reddest flowers we’ve seen on any Butterfly Bush. Its fragrant and eye-catching, intensely magenta to purple red flower spikes are produced in abundance over a long flowering period from early to summer to mid-fall in our north-central Georgia gardens. The sweetly scented and colorful flowers contrast nicely with the silvery-green foliage and draw both butterflies and hummingbirds like a magnet. We wouldn’t call Miss Molly a dwarf but she grows about half the size of older, full-size butterfly bushes; only 4-5 feet tall and wide at maturity. Her smaller size lends well to small and medium size gardens and medium size containers of 14 inches or more in diameter. you’ll be happy to know that Miss Molly is a non-invasive variety that thrives in the heat!
NOTE: Buddleia ‘Miss Molly’ has been approved as a seedless butterfly bush cultivar and is considered sterile, producing less than two percent viable seeds, so it will not spread. It is approved for sale in all states without restriction.
Landscape & Garden Uses
With a refined habit, growing in a rounded mound to only 4 to 5 feet tall and wide. Miss Molly Butterfly Bush is well-suited for use in the ornamental landscape. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for use as an accent or in groupings in home foundation plants, or as a specimen, grouped, or as natural hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. Its smaller size lends well for use in large pots, planters and other containers of 15 inches or more in diameter. A welcome and colorful addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, and red-themed color gardens.Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 3.5 to 4′ for solid hedges or mass plantings;Â 8′ or more for space between plants

Note:Â For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Butterfly Bushes is not winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Miss Molly Butterfly Bush is exceptionally easy to grow in moist but well-drained soils of average to low fertility and full sun to mostly sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sun per day during the growing season best flowering. As with so many other plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. Deadheading of spent flowers isn’t absolutely necessary however will encourage production of new and more flowers.

A month ago I ordered 6 of these beautiful butterfly bushes for my back yard. They arrived in less than a week – delivered even on Sunday and were in perfect condition. We were so impressed with the packing/shipping process that Wilson Bros Gardens used. Since planted these bushes have already grown almost twice their size as when they arrived! I have already placed another order for Encore Azaleas from Wilson’s and they arrived just as the butterfly bushes did – in great shape and they are already budded out after being planted a week! I cannot compliment Wilson’s enough for the quality plants they ship out to their customers!———————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come!
